Glencoe Junk Co exists because getting rid of stuff on the North Shore was harder than it needed to be. National franchises quoted one price on the phone and another in the driveway. Local guys with a pickup truck didn’t call back.
Meanwhile, perfectly good furniture kept ending up at the dump. We started with one truck and a simple rule: quote it honestly, show up when we say, and find a home for anything still worth using. That’s it. There’s no call centre, no dispatch algorithm, and no script. When you call, you talk to someone who will actually be on the job.
Since 2019, we’ve cleared out garages, estates, offices, and job sites across Glencoe, Winnetka, Wilmette, Highland Park, and the surrounding villages. Some of it takes twenty minutes. Some of it takes three days and a lot of patience with a family sorting through a parent’s house. We treat both the same way.
The half-proceeds thing our customers mention in reviews isn’t a gimmick either. If we resell something of real value that came out of your home, you get half. It keeps us honest about what we’re hauling away.
Every load gets sorted before it goes anywhere. Furniture, housewares, tools, and electronics in working condition go to local donation partners. Metal, appliances, and e-waste go to recyclers. Yard waste gets composted. What's genuinely unusable is all that reaches a transfer station.
Floors get protected, doorframes get watched, and the space gets swept before we pull out. Estate and downsizing work in particular means going slowly, asking before we take something questionable, and giving people time.
You hear a number before we touch anything, and that number includes labor, hauling, fuel, and disposal fees. We don't add stair charges, weight surcharges, or "that's bigger than we thought" adjustments. If the price doesn't work for you, we leave and you owe nothing.
We live and work here. Our trucks are parked in this village, and the people leaving those Google reviews are neighbors we run into at the grocery store. That's a stronger accountability system than any corporate guarantee.
No. Glencoe Junk Co is independently owned and operated out of Glencoe, Illinois. There’s no national call center between you and the crew doing the work.
Glencoe is home base, and we regularly work in Winnetka, Wilmette, Kenilworth, Northfield, Highland Park, Glenview, Northbrook, Deerfield, Skokie, and Evanston. If you’re just outside that, call and ask.
They get sorted the same day. Usable goods go to donation partners, metals and appliances go to recyclers, organic material gets composted, and only the rest goes to a transfer station.
Regularly. We handle pre-listing cleanouts, tenant turnovers, and estate properties on tight closing timelines, and we can provide a certificate of insurance for building management.
